About KPV
What is KPV?
KPV (CAS 67727-97-3) is a synthetic tripeptide, Lys-Pro-Val, corresponding to the C-terminal sequence (residues 11–13) of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH). It is used in research on inflammatory signalling pathways.
Werhner Lab supplies KPV as lyophilised powder in 10 mg vials.
CAS: 67727-97-3. Molecular formula: C16H30N4O4. Molecular weight: ~342.4 g/mol.
How KPV is studied in the literature
Papers describe KPV as a minimal bioactive fragment of alpha-MSH. The notes below are research background only.
Inflammatory signalling models
Used in cell-based models to study NF-κB and related pro-inflammatory pathways, including intestinal epithelial and immune-cell systems.
Peptide transport models
Studied in the context of PepT1-mediated uptake of short peptides in epithelial cell models.
Research areas
- Alpha-MSH fragment activity and structure–function studies
- Inflammatory pathway signalling in vitro
- Epithelial and mucosal cell models
- Short-peptide transport mechanisms
